Give Yourself to God while You are Young

God exhorts us in the bible to give Him the first fruits of everything, and that includes the first-fruits of your life. God doesn’t want you to wait until you have more time, have more money, have more resources, or any other such excuse. He wants you as you are, now.

You shall take some of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which you harvest from your land that the Lord your God is giving you, and you shall put it in a basket, and you shall go to the place that the Lord your God will choose, to make his name to dwell there. Deuteronomy 26:2

Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come, and the years draw nigh, when you will say, “I have no pleasure in them” Ecclesiastes 12:1

Jesus says to Sr. Josefa Menendez that no sacrifice made to Him would she ever regret. Jesus is telling you that as well, dear Princess of God. No sacrifices you make for love of Jesus will you ever regret, especially the sacrifice of giving yourself to serve Him in your youth, whether that be through a vocation or otherwise.

God lovingly tells you to remember Him in the days of your youth, perhaps because it is in youth that ‘the world’ often opens up to us and we have so many opportunities at this time. However, the smartest, wisest, and best opportunity you have before you is the one God gives you – to be faithful to what He calls you to do in spite of the many other possibilities life gives you. You will never regret, at the end of your life, that choice.

One woman who courageously made the choice to answer Jesus’ call and give her youth to God was Sr. Clare Crockett. Her very inspirational story can be found here and here (book and movie!).

God is asking the same of you dear Princess of God – be faithful to God starting now, in your youth, while such a response has great worth in Jesus’ sight. Don’t wait until you are old, retired, a grandmother, etc and you don’t have the strength and vigor of life anymore, or much more time. Be wise too!
