The Princess of God has great dignity. Dignity is a worthiness or an edification before people and before God.
All of us are created in God’s image, and therefore called to great dignity. Purity, virtue, and humility all increase one’s dignity and give strength to the soul as it goes through the world, a fallen world often having as it’s goal the reduction of one’s dignity through foolishness and sinful ways. Sin always decreases a person’s dignity and holiness always increases it.
Jesus wants to see his Princesses have great dignity. All gentleman uphold the dignity of women rather than tearing it down or degrading it:
“It is the duty of every man to uphold the dignity of every woman.” – St. Pope John Paul the Great
And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. Luke 2:40
She is clothed with strength and dignity; Proverbs 31:25
Dignity shows in the way a woman dresses herself, in the way she prays, in the way she eats, and in the way she lives her life.
For example, a Princess of God to whom dignity is important dresses well, and dresses modestly. She wears long dresses, and she veils in church (for the sake of the angels! as well). This makes her inward beauty apparent – she does not advertise the flesh, but the spirit, thus upholding the dignity of her soul.
A Princess of God does not eat or consume and spend immoderately as well – she shows her dignity in temperance. Always before eating or consuming she thanks God for her blessings, keeping in her mind that what comes to her is not from herself, but gifts from God. This raises simple acts like meals to great dignity – that of praising and thanking God. She never fails to pray the blessing before and after meals. It can is listed below, and as this reminds her that she is a woman and a Princess of God, it encourages her further to never eat in an undignified manner.
Before: Bless us, O Lord! and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
After: We give Thee thanks for all Thy benefits, O Almighty God, who livest and reignest world without end. Amen. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
As a Princess of God navigating though life, if you have lost dignity at any instance there is hope and redemption and God and Jesus wish to re-uphold you and your soul in dignity! One such inspirational story is the story of St. Margaret of Cortona, who had sunk quite far into a life of sin and excess, but pulled herself out of it with God’s grace and mercy, eventually becoming so dignified and holy that she is today a Saint!
